Signing the Lease Tomorrow

We are signing the lease tomorrow. Anne and I are both excited and nervous at the same time. It is quite an adventure. I’ve been in the business my whole life, but I have always been a Robin to a corporate Batman. There is something in my character that made me play the role of the sidekick. I did the dirty work. I solved the nasty problems. I smoothed out chaotic operations and I built really good teams. I accepted my role with grace. Sometimes too much grace.
Tomorrow we begin work on a project that is all ours. It’s our vision and our dream to create a European style cafe with the charm and character of something you would find along the Seine in Paris.
Anne has the artistic vision. I have the food vision. Together we plan to meld our imaginations into something really creative and unique.
We will keep you posted with stories, recipes and pictures.
Tomorrow is a day of bleach, comet, oven cleaner degreaser, mops and buckets. The boys and I will spend the day cleaning the kitchen. Wish us luck.
We plan to name the restaurant
Fiore Market Cafe
Here are a few pictures from the last couple of days. Ciao.

My special Friday of the month was extra special with a visit and lunch at Fiore. I had not been to Fleur, as yet, so it was also a destination for a special birthday gift for a friend. The essence of your beloved was present as I entered Fleur. The perfect gift found without any hesitation. Her artful presence is still present and I feel it will remain. Lunch was exceptional and relaxing, as always. The sound of music in the background, people gathering and enjoying the ambience. I believe in this crazy world we all need the presence of a Fiore Market Cafe….I hope you will stay another 7 years…actually 7 years to infinity! I have a favorite quote, by Miuccia Prada…”Love is in the details” and that clearly defines Fiore.

Dear Bill, My daughter Claire and I just love your Saturday scones and so I stopped in yesterday to pick some up after a long hiatus. Disappointed, I thought I would wander over to your boutique area for a treasure, and found the memorial to someone…. when I found out it was your dear wife I couldn’t believe it. Sincerest condolences on such a tragic, unexpected and inexplicable loss. Our George will be as heartbroken as I am. Sincerely, Shirley Jagels

I am sorry Shirley. I am just seeing this now. Thank you for your beautiful words. I have added little things to Anne’s shop because it’s important to me to keep it full of her love and spirit.
