Mid Summer Days

The heat is upon us and it feels good for the most part. We are discovering  the heat makes people want to hide indoors and we don’t have much space indoors for people to hide. They have to sit outside on our cool, comfortable patio. It’s only slightly cool because the tables are all well protected from the sun by the umbrellas and awning. Late afternoon and early evening the patio gets a great breeze rolling through. It’s very nice.

We have an ad running on South Pasadena Patch. See if you can find it.

I have posted some pictures from our recent Gazpacho soup. We offered it to the guest at a baby shower over this past weekend and received a great review on Yelp. I hate to say it, but the Gazpacho is all but gone. I believe I have one bowl left for tomorrow. I made a nice Tuscan white bean soup with sausage for tomorrow. I know it doesn’t sound very summery, but give it a try. It turned out real nice. I am always amazed how a soup tastes better the next day.

I have been working on a second community table for Fiore. It’s not complete, but close. I found a very old table top and did my best to restore it. I stained it today and painted the legs. Next I’ll build some new benches with my neighbors help and we’ll be there. I have attached a few pictures of the table.

The garden is amazing. I fertilized for the first time about two weeks ago. I believe it helped. The tomato plants, eggplants and peppers look healthy as can be. I have two tomato plants that are wilting.I would love some advise if anyone can diagnose the problem with my plants.

New basil has finally settled in. The plants look healthy and sturdy. Waiting for them to take off. We use lots of store bought basil for our home made pesto. Looking forward to using basil from the Fiore garden.

That’s all for now. Enjoy the pictures. Remember we are now open until 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Stop By.

Great photos! The soup is probably the best I’ve ever had! Your homemade sandwiches taste so fresh and natural paired with a soda or apple juice harken to a simpler time. I love your spot just to kick back and unwind. A cupcake and espresso make for a perfect dessert. Life is getting hectic so I’d better stop in for my dose of Fiore 🙂
